London with the Family

Image
My master experience in London was coming to an end and to celebrate this big day, part of the family flew to London from Alghero, Italy. Me and my boyfriend got there from Frankfurt and his family from Nancy, France. It was a weekend to organize with the most various group of people you could imagine. 1.        Grandpa, 88 years old 2.        Cousins 16 and 17 3.        Sister 24 years old 4.        Aunt 50 years old 5.        Boyfriend parents around 50s 6.        Me and my boyfriend Everyone had their expectations, everyone had their limits and everyone had their “OMG I don’t wanna go there” moments. This was our itinerary Day 1 Arrivals Day! Everyone arrived in different timing, but everyone arrived by dinner time Check in in the Airbnb and dinner with some of my closest friends I made during the master and their parents. Grandpa had a great experience with London pizza and everyone was happy. Day 2 Graduation Day! Ev

My home? Europe!

Image
I already talked about my story in this blog… I am from Sardinia, Italy; I lived in Frankfurt Germany for one year and a half and I am now taking a master in London. Plus I will move back to Frankfurt once the Master will be over. It is now break from University between one module and the other, this means I am supposed to be home, but where is home? Is my home my native county? Is my home where all my stuff is? Is my home where I currently have a doctor? These are the questions that for people like me who travel a lot are coming up very frequently. What are the signs of someone living in more countries at the same time? #1 You have more SIM cards. When on the plane they first think you do once landed is to change your SIM card and use the local phone number. This also mean that whenever someone asks you your phone number you just say: well just look for me on facebook messenger. #2 What’s your address? This problem just came to me when ordering

London changing my prospective

Image
London experience is pretty much over, graduation will be the last trip to the red buses city. Eight months have gone through and all I know is that I’m now back to Frankfurt, one of my homes, my lovely home. In these 8 months in a business school with people form that side of the society I almost didn’t know existed and I really don’t belong to, I learned not to stop at the front page of a person. I remember calling at home after the orientation day and been asked "did you make any friends?" and I almost went in to panic I started talking to my family about how hard it looked to approach someone and how everyone was wearing big brands, how ridicule different I was feeling from the people in the school. Out all those people that looked extremely wealthy, with no problems to spend £50 for dinner, I looked for the most normal ones (with my concept of normality) so that I could spend my time with my schoolmates in the most enjoyable ways. Rome in a Weekend

Image
My boyfriend and I make a deal, since I ’ m taking a master in London and we lived in Frankfurt (Germany) we try to see each other at least once every 3 weeks. Because of this, our Christmas gift was a weekend in Rome in January. Being myself Italian, I couldn ’ t wait to show the best places of Rome to my French boyfriend. Arrival day Arrived on Friday night, we took an amazing pizza in one of those little restaurants behind the corner of a small streets, with just Italians inside. The pizza was amazing Then we took a nice walk and our Bed and Breakfast was near the Vatican and we had the pleasure to see Saint Peter almost empty. It was so majestic. I couldn ’ t stop admiring it. Day 1 Morning Since we were so close to the Vatican, we decided to take a real tour of it. We visited the Sistine chapel, the Cupola enjoying the amazing view and the basilica. It is a very recommended tour, we spent € 8 for the Sistine chapel, Vatican museums and gardens; € 6

How to be a broke student in London

Image
London is for definition an expensive city! This said, all your money will go to your rent and the public transportation, so I will tell now how I live well in London even being most of the time broke. EATING Lunch Of course eating at home of cooking and bringing your food to school is always the cheapest idea, but if you are a student, most of the time you have no time for cooking, so I normally take the meal deal from the supermarket (there is one near my university) which normally includes one sandwich or salad, plus a snack (I like to take fruit or carrots but you can even find chips and cookies) and a drink, from juice to water, to coke. For about £ 3,00 My other best option is Subway, for a bit more than £ 3,00 I can get half sub and I get water and drinks in school, or I buy some fruit and take one piece every day in my bag. Dinner out with friends Push your friends to eat Asian food, that ’ s the one I like the most and normally has the best r

La città eterna - Rome

Image
Rome, our Christmas gift! My mom keeps saying there aren’t traditional gifts anymore. It is true, the gifts me and my boyfriend exchange are normally in somehow “experiences”. A ticket to a water park, a trip to a new city, the ticket to a musical. Our Christmas gift was something we both enjoyed. One weekend in Rome, we went to Paris in November and since I am Italian I was more than happy to show Rome in January to my special one. Going with him to Rome led me see the city in a different light, much more romantic than the tipical museums and monuments trip. I discovered my boyfriend a person who’s incredibly interested in art and history. We had amazing time, great food, great weather (20° Celsius) and amazing sunsets. The best mix for a quick catch-up of our long-distance relationship, it was one of our planned trips to make the separations easier and it definitely worked. Here are some pictures, what are your favourite spots in Rome?

Paris l'Amour

Image
Before I even knew I was going to start a Master in London last September. Me and my boyfriend bought two tickets to watch a friendly rugby game between France and New Zealand in Paris. It would have been my first time in Paris since when I was 4 and going with my French boyfriend was making this experience even more special. Not many people go to Paris with their boyfriend to watch a rugby game but it was just an excuse to take a trip and it fully fit in our  meeting plan since we were living in different countries. I got to see the best monuments and on top of it, kiss my boyfriend under the tour Eiffel, watch my first rugby game, be for the first time in a big stadium, watch the All Blacks playing amazingly and performing the Haka. What I totally loved of Paris is summarized in a few pictures but feelings were much bigger than what pictures can describe.  Have you been in Paris? How long was your trip? What was your favourite place?

Long Distance Relationship Agreement

Image
I suppose you all know in some how Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory, he ’ s famous to have his own way of doing things. Something that really characterize his behaviour is his collection of agreements. Flatmates agreements with Leonard and Relationship agreement with Amy just to cite some. Me and my boyfriend are big fan of that Tv-Show, but no worries, we didn ’ t write and sign an agreement. We did promise each other to put all the effort to make the relationship work during the master program I ’ m taking in London (I talked about it in My Short Story ). What we came up with is this list : ·          One selfie a day at least ·          Trying to call every day ·          Skype at least once a week ·          Meet every about 3 weeks (we made a real plan) This is how our meeting plan went so far Beginning of September                              Start of the Master and moved to London during a weekend with his help Halloween Weeken

Being an Au-Pair - Questions I asked, their answers, the reality

Image
I ’ ve been an Au-Pair from February to August 2015 in Frankfurt, Germany for an international family with 2 kids (4 and 9 years old). The mother Indian and the father American. The common language in the house was English and the kids were attending an American/international school. I didn ’ t have a great experience with the family! I think the fault of this was the trust I gave to the truth of the answer they gave me every time I asked questions. One important thing to say is: they promised a lot they gave almost nothing! They didn ’ t let me talk to previous Au-Pairs saying “ we ’ ll put you in touch with them ” With this post, I would like to show you the question I asked, what they answered, what the reality was. I hope you will not make my same mistakes! You can value all the time how true the answers are and never take a job without talking to a previous Au-Pair Transportation How fare do you live form the train station? How far is it to get to the

Mom I don't wanna lay on the couch all day!

Image
Mom I don ’ t wanna lay on the couch all day! December 2014: Graduation from my bachelor program January 2015: I was extremely bored and I saw nothing good coming to me before the beginning of a master the following September This was my time line, being bored doing nothing until the new courses would have actually started. I am not that kind of person that lays on the couch all day, eating mom ’ s food, and using mom ’ s money. For this reasons I started checking what I could do to make a good use out of this huge amount of spare time Looking at all kinds of job offers and internships I ’ ve been suggested from my sister to try to find an Au-Pair job somewhere in Europe, so that I could learn a new language, and considering I already knew English it would have been an easy choice. I go on a few websites and I make my profile. A few weeks later a lovely family sent me a message and we started a conversation that brought me to get everything ready and start a ne

My short story

Image
I lived most of my life in Alghero, Sardinia, Italy! Yes, an island in the middle of the Mediterranean. It is super cool and living 3 minutes walking from the sea definitely made my childhood special. Travelling has always been inside me and my first big trip was in the US during an exchange program of one year. During this time, I lived in 2 different American families (it was required from the program to change family) and travel all over the US in one month bus road trip. The big challenging trip is the one that has been keeping me outside of home for more than 2 years already and it seems not bringing me back. I went to Germany, in Frankfurt as an Au-Pair pushed to learn a new language, discover a new culture and meet new people. When my Au-Pair time was over, I decided to stay to improve the little German I learned. I found a job in an Italian caf é and with ups and downs I earned enough money to live on my own just doing German courses. In the end of my Ge
